Haipeng Xu's watercolor learning experience:
Portrait and my house: I plan to make a picture in which there are building and some people together. At first, I pick a picture of a building and a very beautiful picture of figures. I’d like to put them together. Then, I have to put color, position, direction, ratio, and light source in my consideration before I do it.

It is very important to arrange the position between the building and the figures. In order to make figures jumped out. I decided to put the figures in the closest position to the reviewer. At the meantime, the background becomes the whole building and the garden. It is more nature to have the figure at the road in front of the door of the house. Therefore, a picture about a father with his son on his shoulder standing in the front of the house is formed.

The original color of the house is white. I decide to pick yellow as the main color of the house. Because this is in the fall, so, I put the blue and yellow as the color of the outfits of father and son. Because the father and the son are Asians, their skin color should be red-yellow.

The last and very important is light source. The light comes from front and right. So I have to consider more things about the shadow about the house and the figure. I pick gentle green as the shadow of the gutter and other place of the house. At the mean time I use the dark red-yellow as the shadow on the skin of figures.

All of all, I have to arrange the picture in rationality and beautiful. At least, this picture tell reviewer a story about love and peace.
