Cheng-Chieh Lin's watercolor learning experience:
House portrait: House portrait is not an easy project. Totally I repainted the painting over than three times. I cannot feel satisfied with the first time of painting. The color looks too dirty to the painting, because I made too many lines for the house’s structure. The house looks so complex, but which not means it is a good picture.

Professor Chen asked me to forget the complex structural lines. (Make a clear line for the house.) And do it again, then I will feel better. I was following the Yong’s suggestion, while I painted the house again. I absolutely feel the picture become clearer than before. I used colors very careful, and made sure that it looked not dirty.

The last problem is reflection. Reflection problem always made me crazy. I had to consider about the light source. (Where the light comes from?) It doesn’t show very clear light source from the picture. Finally, I solved the problem. I forget all the colors; just consider the values (darker and lighter), then I found out what the light source is coming from.

When I show my painting in class, I heard “awesome” from my classmates. I was so happy to hear people saying it’s a good painting that gives a lot encourage to me.
