Brandy Kmetz's watercolor learning experience:
My professional goals in relation to Art are very much intertwined. I plan on continuing my education to include a Masters of Art in Art Therapy. This 60 credit program will focus on integrating creativity within the arts into clinical work. I will be trained in using different art modalities in my practice in either; clinical, educational and with in human services. I will be able to register and get certification through the American Art Therapy Association as well as apply for a Mental Health Counselor License with in my state of residency.

I would love to employ my services at a Children's Hospital. Many hospitals have play therapy rooms where patients and their family can come to get away from the doctors and mundane hospital routines. Therapist also use the room to encourage children to work through unresolved developmental and psychosocial challenges using art as a medium of expression. I can also see myself working with a school system. I could work with special needs children, including deaf and blind students in using art to improve gross and fine motor skills, learn language or just express their creativity.

I have worked in both settings with children, but also have some experience in working with some children, but mostly adults in a outpatient mental health clinic. I would prefer to work with children in what ever location I am employed in. I feel that art is a universal method of communication and know that I will always incorporate art into what ever position I hold.

As promoting my own art....I would love to create some pictures and show some in a small town gallery. I would also like to sell some as cards. My aunt who taught me oil painting when I was younger has some experience in selling her art and being commissioned to paint murals in private and public settings, I hope could provide valuable information. I will enjoy creating cards and paintings for my family and friends to enjoy. It warms my heart and encourages my soul to create for others.
