Brandy Kmetz's watercolor learning experience:
The critic in class last saturday was very helpful. I was able to take comments about my paintings and others to help me develop more of an eye for things that I can do to improve my techniques. I have a better understanding of color value and will look at my paintings differently.

I will be trying the "10 second glance" at each spot technique. I know that I sometimes will over work and area and that adds to my frustration. I need to understand to work on the all over painting before adding details to one area.

I feel I do have a good understanding of lighting, but could always improve. As you said, "Lighting defines the relationship between subjects". And it does.

I felt better after realizing that people in class are struggling with the same issues that I have been. I realize that my paintings could all be improve upon and after participating in this critic, I have an idea of how to go about improving.

I will be squinting more at my paintings and looking at the ways light plays on subjects. I am more confident in my techniques and am excited about completing more paintings.
