Karen Hunt's watercolor learning experience:
The first step is to find something that you would like to draw. Something that has meaning to you that you will want to mail to a friend or relative. Then cut the water color paper to the size that you want it to be. I used 4.5 x 11 inches folded size 4.25 x 5 inches. The size of the card is based on the size of your envelope. I found water color cards and envelopes at A.C. Moore. This worked better for me instead of trying to match an envelope. Next draw your picture and write what you want to say inside of the card. You will need drafting tape so after you paint the tape wont stick to the paper. The next step is to put a 1/2" border around the sides, top and bottom of your card. Tape it flat on a board. Then paint your picture and after it dries you take of the tape and you will have a nice white border around the picture.
