Karen Hunt's watercolor learning experience:
What I've learned so far in water color painting. I knew a little bit about mixing the 3 primary colors red, blue and yellow because I'm a preschool teacher and we paint a lot. I learned by mixing 3 complimentary colors you can achieve brown or grey. The flat wash is from left to right. The radiant wash is dark to light. When you start off with your color it is a little bit darker and it becomes lighter as you use more water and less paint. A varigated wash is a wash wet into wet color. You can integrate and put 3 colors into one. I worked hard on my rose and I finally like it. I feel that in time with practice I will become a better painter. I haven't learned how to use my digital camera yet. I hope to be able to do that and run some pictures off on my computer. For now I have pictures from a calendar and a magazine. I did go on your web site to watch your techniuqe and to get some pointers on how your other students progressed and were able to paint such nice pictures.
