Weiji Feng's watercolor learning experience:
When I was still in China, I saw a Chinese painting. Chinese painting is water color. That painting was only one color, black color; it is a village at the feet of a mountain at after raining. Thought only one color, and the village, tree, and mountain are not like real, it is as the subjects lying in the water, even I cannot see clear where is mountain, where is tree, and where is village, I can image that it is a peaceful village, it is a nature village, and people real live in nature. At the feet of a mountain the village should be far far away the city, so there is no factory, no car, and high-rises…; and there some farmlands. Therefore, it is a real peaceful place. It is realheaven for people. However, if it is not a water color, it is a general picture. We can look clear the village, the farmland, the trees, and the mountain. Certainly, it is very clear what is in the picture, but it will not let me image anything because it is only a general village. It could be easy to find out in a country. However, in water color though everything it is not very clear, it lets me image that the village is not a real village. It is a heaven village. It is so peaceful, beautiful, and natural. It lets me find out what place I am yearning for. Therefore, water color is not direct to express an opinion or idea. It is only a cloudily picture, but it lets us image out a clear picture and a clear opinion. Maybe, because it is cloudily, it lets people have to image what the picture express. This is very special for water color, or it is so different from other painting. So I love water color. This is my point in my first view in water color. I hope to learn more about water color, so I am taking this class. I wish I will be able to express my opinion in my own water color in the future.
