Maggie Deng's watercolor learning experience:
Before I took the class of watercolor, I didn’t know anything about it. I thought it is so boring and difficult to learn. Actually, watercolor painting has a lot of fun. First, when I finish this semester, I learned color-mixing methods and studied how paper react to water and pigments. I was so surprised by using three colors with yellow, red, and blue to make a lot of colors. I learn watercolor painting techniques of dry-on-dry, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry. I learned how to use bright color and not-bright color, warn and cool in the design composition. I learned when and where to use dark color and how to lift-off color from watercolor paper.

Second, our professor’s spirit of never give up for seeking his dream stimulated me to study hard. When he was 4 years old, he started to learn painting. He said he likes painting so much and keeps painting every day even he moved here from China. He worked in restaurant when he was new here, but painting is his dream. He told to his boss about his dream. His boss encouraged him to go back to school to keep studying. He finish 4 years university became a professor of painting. He painted several children book. We can view his all painting and his students’ beautiful paintings from his own web side: YongChen.com. His story tells me don’t give up for seeking a dream. If I keep seeking if and word hard on it, I may reach my goal.

I am so happy that our professor encourages us to keep painting every day. Even this semester was finished, we still can send him our paintings and learn from him or join his learning center on his web side.
