From 1984 to 1988, I went to the beaches in southern China every summer, and sometimes in the winter, to paint watercolor and oil paintings, from sunrise to sunset. As I grew up in a village near the ocean, I was very familiar with the boats, the sea, and many things from the sea. I painted this watercolor partially from my memory, to remember the peaceful times I spent with old friends by the sea.
