Gradient Wash to Enhance Focal Point

When there are many areas with the same great value contrast, we need to decide which of them we want to keep as the focal point. For the rest, we need to reduce the value contrast to set them to be the secondary.

The solution for this painting is to apply a gradient wash to make the background color next to the vase to be close to the value of the vase, and the background color next to the picture frame to have less contrast to the picture frame, so that the flowers will become the first priority in the painting.
