Portrait Painting and Commission

Portrait painting is always my favorite, especially painting people in oil or watercolor. After years of doing portrait paintings, I found that portrait painting is not just challenging, but also very satisfying, because each person has unique personality and life story.

Portrait Commission Procedure

I usually have a two to three hour session during which I take many photographs and often do some sketches in location to discuss the layout and pose. This sitting is usually held at my client's location. A 50% deposit is requested at the sitting.

Before painting the portrait, I will post a drawing study for my client's approval. This sketch is a small version of the portrait which allows the client to review the composition. Once the study has been approved, the portrait will be completed and delivered to the client.
