A trip to an old water town in China brought me a unique experience. A canal went through the whole village, like a street, it tied the village together. The villagers use boats as the best choice for transportation for go places within the village, to shop for foods and supplies, to visit friends and other families. The houses in the village were most old. They made from stone and wood, with the most practical and simple structures. In the houses, there were very few equip with modern technology. Most people there lived in a very simple life-style.

As a boy born and grew up from China, I know that, not every village has such beautiful canal within it, most villages made a small river around the outside, but, most village still remain their old tradition, their simplistic and uniqueness from generation to generations.

A local television station produced a program during my exhibition in New Hampshire and this painting was a part of the program. Click here to watch the video and learn more about the "stories behind my paintings".
